Dorset Climbing Experience - Open Sessions
Open sessions have always been at the heart of our activities at Jurassic Watersports. We offer session dates with say 6 spaces, allowing individuals, couples, friends, and families to book the spots they need and be joined together as a group. This format is ideal for small groups (1-4 people) who would find private sessions costly. While many providers have reduced or stopped offering this style of session, we remain committed to them, making our experiences more accessible. If you need more flexibility with dates, consider our Private Sessions.
Open sessions typically include 6 people, aged 12/14+.

Our Private sessions offer the chance to enjoy our activities exclusively with your friends and family, ideal for family groups and stag & hen parties. To simplify payments, we require a £100 deposit at booking to secure your session. We will confirm final numbers closer to the date and charge the outstanding balance then. Please do remember the minimum charge is £360 for a Private Session. Private sessions also provide greater flexibility with dates.

GoPro Hire Only - The GoPro Hire Only package includes two 4K GoPros: one mounted on a helmet to capture your entire session, and the other operated by a guide for dynamic shots. Afterward, you'll receive the full raw footage, allowing you to relive your adventure.
GoPro Hire & Photographer - The GoPro Hire & Photographer package includes everything in the GoPro package, plus a dedicated photographer using a high-quality DSLR in a waterproof housing to capture amazing shots throughout your session. After your adventure, you’ll receive both the raw footage and the processed photos, so you can relive your experience from every angle.

A private session at Jurassic Watersports offers a personalised experience for you and your friends or family, with only your group participating. This is especially popular for families and stag/hen groups. It also provides greater flexibility regarding available sessions. Perfect if you are struggling to find the session you want, or if you want to ensure a more tailored, exclusive adventure!
For Rock Climbing at Dancing Ledge, there are no dedicated changing rooms or toilets at the meeting point. The National Trust occasionally places portable toilets in the car park, but it’s best to assume there won't be any. The nearest toilets are at Putlake Farm, just up the road.
For your Climbing session, bring solid shoes with good grip and. (you will not be able to take part if you arrive without proper footwear!) We suggest you also bring a water bottle and waterproofs/warm clothing where appropriate.

You'll have a qualified instructor to teach you everything you need to know and "show you the ropes" (pun intended!). We recommend a basic level of physical fitness to ensure you can fully enjoy the session. No prior climbing experience is required, so come ready to learn and have fun!

While we try to avoid cancellations, we understand that the weather can sometimes be unpredictable. If a session is cancelled due to weather, we will work with you to reschedule at a time that's convenient for you. On wet days when we can't climb, we try to offer wet alternatives such as Coasteering!
Coasteering is physically demanding, and for open sessions, participants need to be at least 14 years old. However, we can arrange sessions for children aged 8-14 without issue, we just need you to get in touch first. We also require a minimum height of 138cm (4'6").
Jurassic Watersports is fully licensed by the HSE (AALA) to work with under-18s. For further details, please reach out to us directly.
