Dorset coasteering experience - Open sessions
Open sessions have always been at the heart of our activities at Jurassic Watersports. We offer session dates with 10-20 spaces, allowing individuals, couples, friends, and families to book the spots they need and be joined together as a group. This format is ideal for small groups (1-4 people) who would find private sessions costly. While many providers have reduced or stopped offering this style of session, we remain committed to them, making our experiences more accessible. If you need more flexibility with dates, consider our Private Sessions.
Open sessions typically include 6-10 people, aged 14+.

Our Private sessions offer the chance to enjoy our activities exclusively with your friends and family, ideal for family groups and stag & hen parties. GoPro Hire Only - The GoPro Hire Only package includes two 4K GoPros: one mounted on a helmet to capture your entire session, and the other operated by a guide for dynamic shots. Afterward, you'll receive the full raw footage, allowing you to relive your adventure.
GoPro Hire & Photographer - The GoPro Hire & Photographer package includes everything in the GoPro package, plus a dedicated photographer using a high-quality DSLR in a waterproof housing to capture amazing shots throughout your session. After your adventure, you’ll receive both the raw footage and the processed photos, so you can relive your experience from every angle.

A private session at Jurassic Watersports offers a personalised experience for you and your friends or family, with only your group participating. This is especially popular for families and stag/hen groups. It also provides greater flexibility regarding available sessions. Perfect if you are struggling to find the session you want, or if you want to ensure a more tailored, exclusive adventure!
For coasteering at Dancing Ledge, there are no dedicated changing rooms or toilets at the meeting point. You'll meet the team in the car park, where you'll change into wetsuits in your car. It’s recommended to arrive in your swimming costume, and don’t forget your towel. The National Trust occasionally places portable toilets in the car park, but it’s best to assume there won't be any. The nearest toilets are at Putlake Farm, just up the road.
For your coasteering session, bring shoes with laces to wear in the water (you will not be able to take part if you arrive without proper footwear!), a swimming costume to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, and a water bottle. You may also want to bring a rash vest or t-shirt for extra comfort. If you wear contact lenses, it’s best to have a spare pair available to put in after your session.

Group sizes can vary, but typically, we aim for a smaller group of up to around 10 people. There are no strict minimum or maximum numbers, but sessions must remain cost-effective. (ie, we do need enough interest to make the session worthwhile.)
If you're looking for a smaller group, consider booking a Private Session for more tailored experiences.
While we try to avoid cancellations, we understand that the weather can sometimes be unpredictable. If a session is cancelled due to weather, we will work with you to reschedule at a time that's convenient for you. Remember, a bit of rain shouldn't spoil the adventure but 6ft waves just might!
Coasteering is physically demanding, and for open sessions, participants need to be at least 14 years old. However, we can arrange sessions for children aged 8-14 without issue, we just need you to get in touch first. We also require a minimum height of 138cm (4'6").
Jurassic Watersports is fully licensed by the HSE (AALA) to work with under-18s. For further details, please reach out to us directly.
