*NEW* True Adventure Trips | School Residentials | Dorset | School Trips
The world of school trips has changed a huge amount over the years and for the most part, this is great! Young people are getting out more, learning more and trying more! Here at Jurassic Watersports, our team have had the privilege to work along-side instructors who have been in the industry longer than some of us have been able to walk. We’ve heard their stories of how things “used to be”, some of us were even lucky enough to have been on these kinds of trips as kids ourselves! We want to combine that ‘traditional’ way of doing things, with our experience of running a more modern style of school trip and residential. We are a modern company, we aren't big fans of words like ‘traditional’ or ‘retro’, but ‘old school’ we can do! We have designed a simple and elegant programme that maximises the learning and growth opportunities of your young people, whilst minimising cost and logistical complications. Our signature form of trip is just two days out of school, but in those two days they will learn some incredible, lifelong skills that will stay with them, long after their school life.

ENQUIRE HERE!This is sounding good…tell me more?
Day 1
Your group will arrive at the Shell Bay car park with all their bags. Their bags will go into our van and be taken to the
campsite, while the students set off in groups, carrying just a day bag of food and water and some waterproofs. They
will spend the day out with a member of our team learning how to navigate and map read with the campsite as their destination. By the end of the day they will navigate their way to the campsite, work as a team to set up their tents and cook their own dinner on camp stoves.
Day 2
They will start their day preparing their own camp breakfast and making lunch for the day. They’ll pack up their
own tents and load all their bags backinto our van again for transport. They will then be issued with Coasteering
and Climbing kit, before heading off along the coastal path, destined for Dancing Ledge. Once at the ledge,
they will then spend the day
Coasteering and Climbing, before walking out to Spyway barn, where they will finish their adventure and await collection!
This sounds cool, but what makes this so special or different?
We wanted to develop a programme that encourages young people to not just try new things, but learn new things! Young people these days struggle to find opportunities to experience independence and really do things for themselves. On these new trips, they are dropped in the deep end! They will be pushed and encouraged into taking responsibility for themselves. It's also important to note that this programme was developed alongside some of our clients who wanted a more affordable option that their students could all have the opportunity to benefit from. The majority of these trips can be run at less than £200 per student.
What kind of benefits will I and my young people see?
The list of benefits are countless! But the key ones include:
- Students will learn incredible new skills.
- Students will become more independent.
- Students will learn what resilience really means.
- Students will learn to be more self-sufficient.
- Students will truly experience something different.
- Far more affordable for students & their families.
- Great preparation for programmes such as DofE.
From a school point of view as well, these trips minimise the need for minibus and school transport. The only transport you need is to and from the trip! For local schools, you could even arrange for parents to drop off and collect themselves!

FAQ's
To complete your booking, we’ll only need a few things from you: the Provider Agreement, Group Consent Form, and Medical Information. Don't worry, we’ll guide you through every step!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via email at info@jurassicwatersports.co.uk over the phone on 01202 985196 or use the contact form at the bottom of the page. Our team will respond as soon as possible to assist you!
Please refer to our 'Schools & Groups Cancellation Policy'
Not really! For cost efficiency, it's typically best to keep group sizes near multiples of 10. Smaller groups may become more expensive due to required staffing ratios.
We will provide a full kit list for you to share with your students to ensure they come prepared for their adventure!
For our adventure programs, we generally recommend that participants be at least 12-13 years old. We tailor activities to suit the age of the group, and older students will likely experience more personal development. For our ‘True Adventure Trips,’ we suggest a minimum age of 14 or Year 9 and up to ensure the group can fully engage in the experience.
We operate along the stunning Jurassic Coast in Dorset, with primary locations in Swanage. These areas are perfect for a wide range of adventure activities such as coasteering, kayaking, climbing, and more. We can also bring some activities to you, or locations closer to home. Whether you're seeking a coastal adventure or inland exploration, our team offers unforgettable experiences in some of the UK's most scenic locations.
We can accommodate groups of up to 30 easily and can handle groups of up to 60 (or even more!) without much difficulty. Smaller groups tend to have a better experience, but we’re flexible and can tailor the experience for larger groups as well. For the best experience, we recommend keeping group sizes within manageable numbers.
